Andre Heintz of the French Resistance

Today has been great so far! After our class at 8:30 we had a guest speaker come in and talk with us, Andre Heintz. He was a man apart of the French Resistance. He told us about how he and other Resistance members knew about the Britain takeover the German's were planning after they occupied the coast of France. Unfortunately there wasn't much they could do because it was very easy for Germans to intercept information being crossed throughout the country. He also explained the conditions of the people who stayed in Caen during this time period. People were given a shortage of food, without being allowed to buy more. They were given out rations because the Germans were taking food back to Germany while their country was dealing with a poor economy. The Germans also issued a curfew that meant people were not allowed on the streets or outside of their homes from 9pm - 6am. However, that changed to even shorter of a time as people attempted to sabotage the German army. He told us many wonderful stories and was a very sweet old man. I didn't get a chance to get a picture of him, but Dr. Bradford did so I'll add his photos on here when I get a chance.

We also went to the Memorial Museum that was AMAZING! But my computer is about to die so I'll have to wait a minute to charge it because right now I'm charging my camera (only one adapter). But I will be sure to put pictures of the museum as well as a nice post on here. Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday!!! :)

  1. The speaker sounds like he must have been interesting. He has a French first name and a German sounding last name. Wonder how that happened? Hope you're doing great! We're getting ready to take Maggie to Sky Ranch tomorrow. Robert leaves for IU to visit friends on Monday with Sara.

Can't wait to hear about the museum! :) I'm living vicariously through you!

    Love, Mom
